So, where exactly is the Greenway?

The Greenway presently runs from one side of Monaghan town to the other, a distance of around 4.2km.

Eventually, it will go the whole length of the old Canal, ie from Lough Erne all the way to Lough Neagh.

Section 1  (from the Armagh Road to Old Cross Square) opened in November 2013, and Section 2 (from the Glen Road to the Threemilehouse Road) opened in April 2014.

There is a small section in the town centre where cyclists have to share the road with motorists. For this reason, we recommend that children are supervised at all times. This section is clearly marked and the Council is working to ensure motorists are aware of cyclists on this stretch.
